Human Resources Assistant - Montego Bay

The Human Resources Assistant contributes to the daily success of the company by supporting all human resources activities by administering payroll processes and benefit structures, scheduling appointments, assisting with both the on and off-boarding of staff, maintaining records, and all other relevant information.  The HR Assistant will be responsible for the payroll process and various other administrative duties that are integral to the success of the company.

Providing quality outputs in Payroll processes

Assist to maintain the integrity of all Human Resource processes

Work humbly in collaboration to ensure teamwork and effective administration

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Understands the importance of and displays very high levels of confidentiality (NDA to be signed). 
  • A highly organised individual who is meticulous and methodical in all administrative activities with a high aptitude for mathematics.
  • Possesses outstanding administrative skills and displays strength in conceptual thinking.
  • Displays excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask and acclimatize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Displays remarkable conflict management and decision-making skills with a solid understanding of employee relationships, staffing management, and payroll and benefits administration.
  • Possess basic knowledge of the Jamaican Labour Laws and Statutory Compliance requirements.
  • Efficient in payroll processing with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Successful at fostering camaraderie, team-building, problem-solving, and strong team member morale.
  • Excellent communication demonstrated in both verbal and listening skills with employees.  Demonstrates a professional and calm posture when confronted with an angry or disgruntled team member.
  • Demonstrates analytical skills through attention to detail and problem-solving techniques.
  • Models a strong work ethic for staff by being reliable, dependable, and willing to “pitch-in” outside of typical position responsibilities.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in computer skills; optometric software (on-the-job training provided), Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and payroll/HR software (TurboPay, WorkForce Kinetics).

Education and experience


Associates Degree in Human Resource Management.


More than three (3) years of experience in human resource roles is a requirement.
